Tigers require 256-run to overcome Afghans
Bangladesh need 256 runs to win the match against Afghanistan as the latter was bundled out for 255 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
After winning the toss, Afghanistan skipper Asghar Afghan chose to bat first.
It wasn’t a good start for Afghanistan as they lost two early wickets at 28 runs in six overs.
With the help of a 51-run partnership between opener Shahzad and Shahidi, Afghanistan could overcome the early jerk.
There was clear Afghans domination at that time. When the Afghans innings went through it, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafee brought his ace Shakib back into the attack. Shakib showed his magic then.
The left-arm spinner picked up a couple of wickets and the Tigers were back to the game.
Rashid Khan came to the crease when Afghanistan were at 160 runs losing seven wickets. He played destructive innings and helped his team to reach a challenging total.
He was not out on 57. The Afghans’ saviour did his half-century only 31 balls.
Shakib took four wickets in his stipulated 10 overs conceding while Rubel and Abu Haider took one and two wickets apiece.
