Ramos sends message to Salah after UCL final injury
Sergio Ramos has sent a message of support to Mohamed Salah and insists he did not intend to injure the Liverpool winger.
Salah was forced off after half an hour against Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final after being wrestled to the floor by Ramos.
The Real skipper pulled Salah to the ground long after the ball had gone, with the Egyptian’s body weight - and that of Ramos - landing on his opposite shoulder.
A tearful Salah left the stadium with his arm in a sling amid fears he has dislocated his shoulder, though the Egyptian FA are hopeful he will be fit for the World Cup.
Atter the game, Ramos - who was heavily criticised for his role in the injury - took to social media to defend himself.
He wrote: ‘Sometimes football shows you it’s good side and other times the bad.
‘Above all, we are fellow pros. Get well soon Mo Salah.’
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp likened Ramos’ challenge to a wrestling move after the match, saying: ‘Of course it was a big moment in the game.
‘I know if you say something like that after a game you lost, it sounds like you are a little bit a bad loser but it was, for me, kind of a harsh challenge.
‘It’s like wrestling a little bit and it’s unlucky then that Mo fell on his shoulder.’
