Amir wants to be the best bowler in 2019 WC
Ace Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has set his goal of emerging as the best bowler in next year’s 50-over World Cup in England.
Pakistan, who won the World Cup way back in 1992 when the competition was held in Australia and New Zealand, are currently on an important tour of England where they will play two Tests against the Joe Root-led side.
Pakistan will also be a part of history when they take on one of the newest Test debuts - Ireland - at Dublin on May 11.
However, Amir, who has just received visa for England, has set his sights on winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 for Pakistan and emerging as the best bowler in the competition.
“We have a good rotation policy and that’s why I’m well prepared for the tournament,” Amir told the ICC.
“It’s such a big event. First of all, I wish Pakistan win and then (I wish) to be the best bowler in the tournament,” said the left-armer who claimed 3/16 against India to guide Pakistan to a win in last year’s Champions Trophy final.
“It will be my first World Cup and I will try to do my best. It’s like a dream come true. Representing your country and playing in a big ICC tournament, one has to be lucky for all this and I consider myself just that,” Amir concluded.
