Winning start for Bangladesh in Bangabandhu Int’l Volleyball meet
Defending champions Bangladesh got off to a winning star in the second edition of Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men's Central Zone International Volleyball tournament beating Nepal by 3-1 set in their tournament opening match held on Saturday at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium at Mirpur.
In the six-nation tournament, Bangladesh lost the first set by 24-26 point but bounced back in the second set with a 25-18 point victory. The hosts went ahead with a 25-14 point in the third set and confirmed their triumph with 3-1 set in the last set, according to a news agency.
The boys in red and green will play their second match against the Maldives scheduled to be held on Monday (April 23) at the same venue.
Bangladesh have been grouped in Pool A alongside Maldives and Nepal while Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan make up Group B.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. Both the last-four clashes will be held Wednesday.
