Tushar Imran hit a magnificent ton as Prime Bank South Zone scored 299 for 7 against Islami Bank East Zone on the first day of the fourth round four-day Bangladesh Cricket League held on Tuesday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

South Zone suffered early batting jolt losing both their openers after East Zone skipper Alok Kapali put them to bat first, according to a news agency.

Tushar Imran and Fazle Mahmud then came to the crease to stop the rot as they duo shared 165-run for the third wicket stand to take the team to a comfortable position.

The 24-year right handed batsman Tushar played a responsible knock of 130-run off 221-ball laced with 15 boundaries and one over boundary before he removed by Abu Jayed.

Fazle Mahmud supported him with a priceless 89-run off 161-ball that was studded with 11 boundaries and one over boundary before he became Sohag Gazi’s victim.

East zone bowlers did not allow their rivals to take full control of the proceedings as they forced South Zone to lose their two set batsmen Tushar and Mahmud. Then they again forced their rivals to lose three more batsmen in a quick succession.

Skipper Nurul Hasan with 4 and Delwar Hossain with 4 on the crease as the stumps were drawn for the day.

Mohammad Saifuddin and Khaled Ahmed were the pick of East Zone bowlers as they bagged two South Zone's wickets each for 40 and 67 runs respectively.
