FIFA Int’l Friendly: Bangladesh play 2-2 draw with Laos
Coming from 0-2 behind, Bangladesh national football team played to a 2-2 draw with Laos in the FIFA International Friendly on Tuesday at the Lao National Stadium in Vientiane making a memorable return in the international football after almost 17 months of absence, UNB reported.
This is the first international match for Bangladesh after about 17 months following their Bhutan debacle of 1-3 goals on October 10, 2016.
After trailing by 0-2 goals till the 81st minute of the day’s match, Bangladesh returned to the match as Jafar Iqbal found the net in the 82nd minute by an spectacular flick (2-1) displaying an better game than that of hosts Laos in the half (2-1).
Abu Sufian Sufil leveled the match in the 3rd minute of the injury time (93rd minute) by a cool placing shot to the grand jubilation of the Bangladesh tent (2-2).
Earlier, Bangladesh conceded the first goal in the 30th minute of the match and they went down further after conceding the 2nd goal in stoppage time (45+2) of the first half from a penalty.
Bangladesh team reached Laos on March 25 and had two training sessions at the same stadium before facing the Laos national team.
Before reaching Laos, Bangladesh spent two weeks in Qatar, then two days in Dhaka before flying to Thailand where the team played two practice matches. Among the two matches, Bangladesh won the second match with a 4-3 margin against Bangkok Glass FC whereas lost the first one 0-1 against Ratchaburi Mitr Phol FC.
