Tigers return home

The Bangladesh national cricket team returned home on Monday following their another heartbreaking defeat in the Final match of the Nidahas Tri-Nation Trophy 2018 held at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. 

The Tigers landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11.35 am. They were carried by an aircraft of Sri Lanka Airlines. 

Sri Lanka arranged the tri-nation T20I series with neighboring nations Bangladesh and India marking their 70th Independence anniversary.

Bangladesh was defeated in both of the two matches in group phase against India. But, they defeated Sri Lanka in both of the two matches in the group phase which carried tigers into final against India. 

Earlier, Bangladesh pulled off a sensational two-wicket victory over Sri Lanka under dramatic circumstances to set up a summit clash against India in the Nidahas Twenty20 cricket tri-series on Friday last.

Mahmudullah (43 not out) struck a stunning six in the penultimate delivery to reach to the target of 160 to the wild celebration of the Bangladesh camp after tempers were frayed due to debatable decisions from the umpires.

But, Tigers couldn’t avoid their heartbreaking defeat in Final against India. India clinched title of the Nidahas Trophy T20I Tri-nation series beating Bangladesh by four wickets.

Chasing a winning target of 167-run set by Bangladesh, India reached home making 168 for the loss of six wickets in 20 over. Cameo Dinesh Karthik starts of India’s dramatic victory as he crumbled Bangladesh’s hope hitting a six in the last ball of the innings off Soumya's delivery.

Bangladesh left Dhaka to join the series on March 4 this year.
