Rajshahi Kings appoints Daniel Vettori as head coach

Former New Zealand legend Daniel Vettori has been appointed as the head coach of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 franchise Rajshahi Kings.

He will be part of the coaching set up for a couple of seasons in 2018 and 2019, said a Rajshahi Kings press release today.

Vettori has been one of the most sought-after coaches in the T20 leagues across the world. However, he would love to make the difference with yet another and work with the youngsters of Bangladesh in the near future.

One of the best left-arm spinners of his era, Vettori, has been the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

He also coached the teams like Middlesex (T20 Blast) and Brisbane Heat (BBL) recently but is yet to win the trophy even as the coach of these teams. RCB qualifying for the final of 2016 IPL edition is his best result so far with a T20 team.

However, it will not be an easy task for Vettori as he will be working in Bangladesh for the first time. Moreover, the team didn't do well in the concluded edition this year finishing second from the bottom with only four wins in 12 matches.

Vettori will succeed Sarwar Imran who coached Rajshahi in 2016 and 2017 as the team had ended the 2016 season as the runners-up in the tournament.

Former Kiwi cricketer will aim to win the tournament for the team which will also be his first triumph ever since taking up the coaching responsibilities in T20 leagues.
