Team’s have many substitute: Halsall
Bangladesh's assistant coach Richard Halsall said the team has many substitute players and each player has a substitute in the team.
He was speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
Bangladesh played the first match against Zimbabwe with two spinners and a talented player like Mehedi Hasan Miraz has to look at to make his place at the best 11 and the condition is same in the pace bowling. The task is more difficult for the batsmen like Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes have to fight to make their place in the team, Halsall said.
Halsall, however, took the matter positively as Miraz could not get opportunity in the best eleven in the first match against Zimbabwe due to team combination. It's a positive sign for the team as it has many substitute players now.
The assistant coach, who is pleased the team's performance against Zimbabwe in the first match, said he is really impressed by the performance of senior cricketers. The victory came as the senior cricketer did their job with full of responsibility.
In the next match against Sri Lanka, Halsall said, "Sri Lanka is a very good team we know. They (Sri Lanka) have talented players like Lakmal and Methews and also have a coach like Hathurusingha, but we are also good side having ability to beat any team.
The players are enjoying the game and are boosted by their opening-match performances against Zimbabwe. Halsall pointed out that the cricketers are smiling again, a smile that was fading after their disastrous South Africa tour last year, he added.
