BPL final: Dhaka ready to face Rangpur today

Dhaka Dynamites ready to face Rangpur Riders in the final match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur at 6pm on Tuesday.

The Riders have achieved this milestone after beating Comilla Victorians by 36 -run in the second qualifier on Monday. Riders scored 192 runs losing only three wickets in all 20 overs by the aesthetic record partnership between Johnson Charles and Brendon McCullum.

It will be the fourth time in the final for Mashrafe Mortaza, who led Dhaka Gladiators and Comilla to BPL titles in 2012, 2013 and 2015. He finished the game off with a superb running catch off the last ball, underlining his contribution as more than just that of team captain.

If Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum or Johnson Charles repeat what they did earlier in the playoffs, Dhaka could very well be out of the contest quite early.

Gayle, Charles and McCullum have come late to the party, but they have peaked at the right time for Rangpur.

Gayle and Charles have both scored hundreds in the qualifiers while McCullum hammered nine sixes in his whirlwind 78 in the second of those matches.

However, BPL 5 edition has played among seven franchise. Those are Dhaka Dynamites, Comilla Victorians, Chittagong Vikings, Sylhet Sixers, Khulna Titans, Rangpur Riders, Rajshahi Kings. All the team has completed their team squad by notable foreign players.
