Bangladesh lost to Uzbekistan in AFC U-19 Championship

A suicidal goal in the dying moment of the match saw Bangladesh suffered a shocking solitary goal defeat to strong Uzbekistan in the five-team Group B match of the AFC Under-19 Championship Qualifiers held on Monday at the Hisor Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

With the day's defeat, Bangladesh's hope of qualifying in the final round almost faded away as it placed third in the points table with four points from three matches while Uzbekistan topped the table with nine points playing the same number of outings, according to a news agency.

Bangladesh will play their group last match against Sri Lanka scheduled to be held on Wednesday (November 8) at the same venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh beat Maldives by 1-0 goal after a commanding goalless draw against host Tajikistan in their tournament opening match.

Table topper Uzbekistan dumped the Maldives 6-0 goals in their second encounter after a 10-0 drubbing against Sri Lanka in their first group match.

The 10 group champion teams along with the five best runners-up of the 10 Asian groups will qualify in the final round of the tournament.
