Bangladesh lose to Pakistan in Asia Cup Hockey opener

Bangladesh suffered a frustrating 0-7 goal defeat to Pakistan in their Pool A one sides affairs of the Men's 10th Asia Cup Hockey held on Wednesday at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium here.

In the day's match, Abu Mahmud scored three goals converting a penalty corner and Mohammad Kadir and Shakil Bhat struck twice each for the winning side, who dominated entire proceeding till the final whistle.

Abu Mahmud opened an account for Pakistan in the 17th minute (1-0) while Shakil Bhat doubled the lead for the winners' in the 32nd minute of the match (2-0).

M Kadir widened the margin scoring the third goal for Pakistan in the 33rd minute (3-0) while Mahmud scored his second and fourth for his team in the 40th minute (4-0).

Shakil Bhat scored his second and fifth for the team in the 46th minute while Mahmud further increased the team's margin scoring third and sixth goal for the team in the 49th minute (6-0).

M Kadir completed the winners' tally scoring his second and seventh for the team in the 59th minute of the match (7-0).

Bangladesh will play their next match against India on Friday (October 13) at the same venue.
