Stone thrown at Australian team bus in India

Aaron Finch tweeted a photo of a broken window pane of the Australian team bus after the second T20I against India on Tuesday. The Australia opener suggested that a ‘rock’ was thrown at the team bus while they were returning from the Barsapara Stadium to the hotel in Guwahati.

“Pretty scary having a rock thrown through the team bus window on the way back to the hotel!!,” said Finch in his tweet. The BCCI, ICC or Cricket Australia are yet to respond to the incident. Australian captain David Warnerlater retweeted Finch while Glenn Maxwell liked the post.

Australia recorded a comprehensive eight-wicket win over India in the match which levelled the series 1-1 as India had won the first game in Ranchi. The loss in Guwahati marked the end of an eight-match winning streak for India in T20Is against the Australians. This match was also the first international fixture to be held at Guwahati’s Barsapara stadium and the first international cricket match in the city in seven years. But, the city came under a lot of criticism after the stone-throwing incident.

Australia had played an ODI series before this T20I series and a Test series in February-March earlier this year bit no such incident was reported. Australia captain Steve Smith, who returned home on Sunday due to a shoulder injury, had shared an emotional message for his fans in India saying that it was an “absolute pleasure to be in India.”
