The hosts South Africa finished day 1 at 428/3 in their first innings of the second Test match against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein on Friday.
At stumps, South Africa were 428/3 for the loss of three wickets in 90 overs.
No 3 batter Hashim Amla and skipper Faf du Plessis were unbeaten at the crease with 89 and 62 under their belt respectively.
The two openers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram gave a solid start to the Proteas as the duo reached 100 run mark before departure.
Elgar scored 113 off 152 while Markram made 143 off 186.
Bangladesh pacmen Subashis Roy picked two wickets while Rubel Hossain claimed one.
