Ctg Test: Australia comfortably finish day 2 at 225/2
Australia have comfortably finished day two on 225 for the loss of two wickets in their first innings in the second Test match at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Tuesday.
Australia lost their first wicket early in their innings as Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman picked up Renshaw.
After that, Smith and Warner propelled their side from a ravaged situation. They built a 93-run stand before Smith departure.
But Warner guided his side at the other end and made a stand with Handscomb and put their side in a comfortable situation.
Opener David Warner scored unbeaten on 88 while Peter Handscomb was not out on 69.
Mustafizur and Taijul took one wicket each.
Earlier, the Tigers were bundled out for 305.
The hosts resumed their batting on day two with their two unbeaten batsmen skipper Mushfiqur and Nasir.
But Mishfiqur was dismissed by Nathan Lyon in the 8th over of the day two.
After Mushfikur’s departure, Nasir Hossain displayed some quality batting but he failed to score a big innings. The right handed batsman returned to the pavilion five run short from his half century.
With the help of Bangladesh lower order batsmen, the Tigers surpassed 300 runs mark.
Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon showed some of his magic as he claimed seven wickets while Aston Agar picked up two wickets.
