Hathuru eyes on next world cup

Bangladesh national team head coach Chandika Hathurusingha said that his main aim is to do well in the next world cup to be held in 2019, hosted by England and Wales.

Bangladesh are likely to play against Australia at home later this month. But he is still not concerned about the upcoming series.

It is understood that the series is still hanging in the balance over pay dispute between the Aussie cricketer and the Cricket Australia (CA).

The Bangladesh head coach shared his thoughts while talking to reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

“My contract will be expired after 2019 world cup. My vision is clear now. I want to get some positive results in the next ICC world cup. That’s why I am working with a lot of talented young players in the current Bangladesh side,” he said.

When queried regarding former Australian leggie Stuart MacGill, he said that primarily he will be employed as a spin bowling coach of the national side for three months. If he can do something different or the players would satisfy with his performance during that time then the concerned authorities might be thought to extend his contract.

“I am trying to help the progress of the players. Nowadays they are doing well, and lean a lot of new things on a regular basis,” he added.

The former Sri Lankan cricketer was appointed as Bangladesh head coach in May, 2014 for two years. Then the top authority of Bangladesh cricket extended his job till 2019 cricket world cup.

Bangladeshi players are already starting their net sessions under the supervision of the head coach after concluding their three weeks condition camp.
