Pakistan fined for slow over-rate in Cardiff win
Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed was fined 20 percent of his match fee while the rest of the players were docked 10 percent respectively for slow over-rate in their nervy three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Monday, reports Cricbuzz.
The charge was laid by on-field umpires Bruce Oxenford and Marais Erasmus, third umpire Chris Gaffaney and fourth umpire Ian Gould and match referee Chris Broad imposed the fine.
According to an official ICC release, Pakistan were found to be an over short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration. As per Article 2.5.1 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
If Sarfraz is found guilty of a second minor over-rate offence, he will be handed a one-match suspension.
