Why Sabbir batting at No. 6?

Sabbir Rahman used to bat at No. 3 for Bangladesh team. But he couldn’t play in his own position in the ICC Champions Trophy as Imrul Kayes played at No. 3 from the beginning of this elite global tournament.

Bangladesh played their first match against England in the tournament opener. Sabbir came to the crease at No. 6 and scored 24 runs from 15 balls with 3 fours at a strike rate of 160.00!

Tigers took on Australia in their second match at the Oval on Monday. This time, Sabbir didn’t do well when he came to the crease at the same position. He made only 8 runs off 14 balls before was dismissed by Adam Zampa.

When asked to changes, Bangladesh Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said Sabbir has been batted at No.3 for last 8 matches for Bangladesh, but his position has been changed due to team combination.

“Sabbir is commonly known as a stroke maker in the Bangladesh team. He has been outstanding for Bangladesh team. He can make stroke, which helped Bangladesh to post a decent total,” adding that he has to adapt this position as soon as possible. I believe he can do it.”
