Mashrafe regrets for more some runs
In the warm-up match against India, Bangladesh was bundled out for 84 in 23.5 overs. The result had a great impact to select their team for the opening match of the ICC Champions Trophy as the Tigers included eight batsmen in their playing XI. They also posted a huge total of 305 runs for the loss of six wickets in the opening match. But the captain Mashrafe Mortaza regretted for more some runs as his side conceded an 8-wicket defeat against England on Thursday.
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal, who smashed a century, went out on 44.3 overs when Bangladesh reached at 261 for three. They had seven wickets and 33 balls to spare. But the batsmen failed to score runs as per expectation in the final five overs.
In the post match press conference, Bangladesh Captain Mashrafe said, “330-340 was scored and also chased down here easily. That’s why we took one more batsman so that we could score 320-330 runs. We went through our plan but couldn’t continue after fall of Tamim and Mushfiq in the same over.”
