Bangladesh southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal hit his ninth ODI century while Mushfiqur Rahim scored 63  runs as Bangladesh run comfortable in their Champions Trophy opener at Kennington Oval, London on Thursday.

Bangladesh reached at 223 for two in 39.5 overs with Tamim’s 100 and Mushfiq’s 63 runs respectively.

This is Tamim`s fifth century in 28 inns since the 2015 World Cup. Prior to that he had only four centuries in 140 ODI inns. All other Bangladesh players combined have hit only four centuries since the 2015 WC.

Earlier, English captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and asked the Tigers to bat first.

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe said that he would have wanted to bowl, too. “We have to make a decent total, and fielding will be important,” he added.
