IPL 2017: Morgan roped in by Kings XI Punjab for INR 2 crore
England batsman Eoin Morgan was roped in by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for INR 2 crore, during the IPL Auction 2017 at the at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Bengaluru on Monday.
Morgan, who has been a star of the IPL, is a power hitter, and has represented former champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and was also a part of the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last season. The England skipper is one of the top draws, as he has led England to the ICC World T20 2016 in India in 2016, and will play an integral part for KXIP, while standing the chance to lead the side as well.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is a team that has seen perhaps the most number of changes since the inaugural edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. They began their journey impressively by reaching the semi-finals in 2008 but could not continue the same way further, despite having a quality side every season.
From nine IPL editions, KXIP have found themselves at the bottom of the table in three seasons - 2010, 2015 and 2016. With another IPL auction nearing, KXIP franchise has started strategising their further moves. All the 8 teams have released and retained certain players from their squad ahead of the IPL Auction 2017 in order to strengthen their respective sides.
The 10th edition of the much hyped, highly successful and the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 is witnessing the IPL Auction 2017 being held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Bengaluru on Monday. Eight franchise teams are fighting it out for the best possible players in their side to complete the squad and be eligible to compete in the 10th edition of the IPL, starting April 5.
More than 350 players are being auctioned this year, and about 76 players, along with 28 overseas players are to be auctioned, as the world is witnessing a war of money among the franchises to grab the best possible player.
