Mushfiq gets second century against India

Mushfiqur Rahim on Sunday became the only cricketer from Bangladesh to score two Test centuries against India.

Rahim achieved his feat when he scored a boundary off Umesh Yadav in the first session’s play on Day Four, marking off a terrific innings against India in the ongoing one-off Test at Hyderabad.

Rahim got to his century off 235 balls, striking 13 boundaries and a six. Rahim survived a probing spell from the Indian fast bowlers, especially Ishant Sharma who threw a barrage of short deliveries at the Bangladeshi captain but had no success.

Rahim also survived a close call when a short ball deflected off his elbow guard and went through to the wicketkeeper.

Rahim has dropped the anchor for Bangladesh, which has raised the woes for India as they continue to push for a win. India have been able to keep taking wickets from the other end but Rahim’s dogged display has kept India on the field since the second day evening of this Test.

The more time India spend on the field looking to mop up the Bangladeshi tail, the less time they will be left with to bowl Bangladesh out in the second innings. However, India did take a couple of wickets in the first hour’s play.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar began the day with a brilliant in-swinging delivery that sneaked its way through the gap between Mehedi Hasan’s bat and pad, knocking down his leg stump. Umesh Yadav provided the second wicket on the fourth day, getting a nervous Taijul Islam caught behind by Wriddhiman Saha.
