Kohli surpasses Bradman to set new world record
Indian captain Virat Kohli on Friday set a new world record in the one-off Test against Bangladesh.
Kohli matches Gavaskar The 28-year-old Kohli struck his 4th Test double century on the second day of the match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to reach where no other batsman had gone in the history of the longer format.
Today’s 204 by Kohli was his 4th Test double hundred in 4 successive series, which is a new world record.
The Delhi batsman constructed his maiden double ton (200) in the West Indies in July 2016 and followed that up with 211 in the next series - against New Zealand in Indore in October 2016. In December 2016, Kohli continued his great run with the bat by registering a career-best 235 against England at Mumbai`s Wankhede Stadium.
And now a world record with his superb knock of 204 against the neighbours. The previous best was by Sir Don Bradman and Rahul Dravid who both struck 3 double tons in 3 consecutive series. Kohli made his Test debut against West Indies in 2011. He averages over 50 with 16 centuries and 14 fifties. He is playing in his 54th Test.
