I regret taking drugs at Barca: Maradona

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has revealed that he deeply regrets using drugs during his time at FC Barcelona.

The 1986 FIFA World Cup winner is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, but he also had a dark side.

Maradona battled with drugs throughout his career, and he has now admitted he regrets using them for the first time while playing for Spanish giants Barca.

"I was 24 when I started taking drugs. I was at Barcelona," he told Canale 5.

"It was the biggest mistake I`ve ever made in my life.

"My daughter asked me to live for her while I was in a coma. I thank God because he listened to her and woke me up.

"Drugs were the biggest problem – drugs kill.

"I`m very fortunate to be here speaking to you. If I had continued, I would have died. No doubt.

"I haven`t taken drugs in 13 years now and I feel great."

Maradona spent just two seasons with the Blaugrana, and won three trophies during his time at the Camp Nou.
