Cricketer Sunny put on one-day remand

A Dhaka court placed cricketer Arafat Sunny on one-day remand in connection with a case filed over posting offensive photos of a woman who claimed that she has a marital relation with Sunny.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pronob Kumar passed the order on Sunday.

Police sought a five-day remand for left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny who was arrested in a case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act on that day.

Biplob Kumar Sarker, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Tejgaon zone, disclosed the matter in a press conference.

Biplob said, ‘A young girl named Nasrin Sultana filed a case against Sunny under ICT Act on January 5. Nasrin claimed that she has a marital relation with Sunny. Some intimate pictures of them were published by Sunny on social networking site recently, Nasrin alleged.’

Later the police arrested Sunny from Aminbazar area in capital, he added.
