Mushy may miss second Test against New Zealand
Bangladesh Test skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, who suffered an injury during the first Test against New Zealand at Wellington, could miss the second Test, starting from January 20 at Christchurch.
“Mushfiqur may miss the second test after he was struck on the head by a bouncer of Kiwi fast bowler Tim Southee,” hinted Bangladesh team physio Dean Conway while talking to journalists on Monday.
“He might be ruled out of action for four weeks,” he also hinted.
He was taken to the hospital when he was struck on the back of the helmet. He was released from hospital after precautionary test.
“Mushfiq’s injury is not very serious, but he needs proper rest to recover his tiredness. If he plays five-day match, he can’t get this,” according to doctors.
Bangladesh will travel to India and Sri Lanka in February and March respectively. For that reason, Team management will not taking any risk at this moment.
Bangladesh lost their first Test against New Zealand by Seven-wickets at the Basin Reserve on Monday.
The second Test of the series will begin on Tuesday at Christchurch.
