Sohan to replace Mushfiq!

Mushfiqur Rahim left the field after suffering a hamstring injury during the first one day international against New Zealand at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Monday.

It is uncertain whether the Test skipper will play the next game or not. He will undergo a scan in 48 hours. After getting the scan report, the team management will decide the next course of action.

If Mushfiq remains unfit for the next matches, wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan will replace him.

“We are yet to get the scan report. After getting the report, we will decide whether he will play the next matches or not,” Bangladesh chief selector Minhazul Abedin said at a press briefing on Monday.

He said Bangladesh squad remains unchanged for the next matches of the series. If anybody suffers an injury, he will be replaced by a substitute player. We have a lot of options.

“If Mushfiq can’t play the next matches, Sohan will be included in XI,” he added.

Tigers captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza described his team’s fielding as “lethargic” in the first ODI.

However, the chief selector said Bangladesh has played a good cricket against New Zealand in the match.

The former captain said Bangladesh’s bowler will maintain their line-length in the condition.

Bangladesh will play their second ODI at Nelson on December 29.
