‘Miraz has ability to serve Bangladesh in all formats’
Mehedi Hasan Miraz, the new spin sensation who played a big role in Bangladesh’s victory over England recently, has included a 15-man Bangladesh squad against New Zealand for the one-day warm up match at Cobham Oval in Whangarei scheduled on 22 December and the first ODI at Christchurch on 26 December.
Though, the 19-year-old off spinner hasn’t played one-day internationals and Twenty20 internationals yet but he has the ability to perform at highest level.
‘Miraz hasn’t played ODI yet but he has a lot of potential to become a useful limited-over all-rounder. He has the ability to serve Bangladesh in all formats’, said chief selector Minhajul Abedin.
Mehedi has been part of Bangladesh’s junior squads. His performances as skipper of the under-15, under-17 and under-19 teams earned him a call-up to the senior side.
The off-spinner had a dream start to his Test career, picking up 19 wickets in the two Test matches against England, winning the Man of the Series award.
