Tamim achieves another batting milestone
Chittagong Vikings captain Tamim Iqbal has broken the record of most half century by a batsman in a single season of the BPL. He played just 13 matches to break the record and he has become the third batsman to score 1000 runs in BPL.
Tamim reached the milestone with a flick for four from the bowling of Darren Sammy. He scored 51 off 46 balls before edging one to Sumit Patel off Kesrick bowling.
Rajshahi captain Darren Sammy won the toss and opted to field first. Chittagong were going strong with Chris Gayle and Tamim at the crease, and crossed 80 inside 11 overs. After Gayle was dismissed, Chittagong lost wickets at regular intervals and stuttered to a below-par total.
The record for most runs in a BPL season remains the 486 that Ahmed Shezad in 2012. Tamim who scored 476 in 2016 is now the second most runs scorer in a season. He is followed by Mushfiqur Rahim who scored 440 runs in 2013.
The overall leader for most runs for any Bangladeshi in BPL remains Mushfiq, who scored 1072. Mahmudullah is next with 1061, Tamim Iqbal 1026 and Shakib AL Hasan 941.
