Shakib’s Dynamite beat Tamim’s Vikings

Shakib Al Hasan’s Dhaka Dynamites beat Tamim Iqbal’s Chittagong Vikings by 19 runs in the opening match of Chittagong leg of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Vikings skipper, Tamim Iqbal, won the toss and elected to field. Dhaka Dynamites two opening batsman Mehedi Maruf and Kumar Sangakkara added 41 runs for the opening wicket partnership.

After a good start, Dynamites’ innings fell wayward as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Al last the visitors were restricted to 148 for 9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Vikings were steady but slow to pursue the target. Tamim struggled his way to a 35-ball 26, which included only two boundaries. The slow start put the hosts on the backfoot early on in the chase.

Eventually, they managed to 129 for 8 in their 20 overs, falling 19 runs behind Dynamites’ total.
