Abandoned matches will be played

All suspended matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be played in rescheduled days as defending champion Comilla Victorians and Rajshahi Kings have agreed to replay the matches.

BPL’s governing body had been forced to postpone the tournament till November 8 due to incessant rainfall.

Two matches of opening days had been abandoned and each of the teams got one point each. But as per the bylaws of the tournament, if all the teams agree to reschedule the matches, it can be played.

Most of the teams had formally agreed except for Comilla Victorians, so the fate of the matches that were supposed to took place on November 4 was uncertain.

The franchise owner and daughter of A H M Mustafa Kamal, Planning Minister and former president of BCB, ACC and ICC, Nafisa Kamal on Sunday confirmed to Jagonews that they have agreed to play the matches.

Nafisa said, ‘We want to play. Whatever happens, victory or defeat will be finalized in the field. As we are well-wishers of Bangladesh cricket, we always want to see BPL take place in the right way. That’s why we have agreed to replay the first match which was abandoned.

Comilla Victorians were supposed to play the Rajshahi Kings in the afternoon, while Rangpur Riders were set to take on Khulna Titans in the evening on November 4.
