Mustafiz misses BPL
Bangladesh sensational pacer Mustafizur Rahman will miss the fourth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which kicks off on Friday at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium as he goes through a rehabilitation programme to get rid of shoulder injury.
Mustafiz played for Dhaka Dynamites and hauled 14 wickets with average 15.28 playing 10 matches in the last BPL.
He exposed his talent by magical bowling delivery, but his team had been knocked out of the tournament at the play off stage.
The Fizz has been struggling against injuries since last BPL. He sustained a shoulder injury during a series against Zimbabwe in last January.
He missed few games of Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 earlier in the year due to injury. The pacer also couldn’t go for playing Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Mustafiz played for Sunrisers Hyderabad at Indian Premier League (IPL) and subsequently won the title of the tournament.
His arrival in Sussex, one of county cricket team in England, was also delayed as he had to go through a rehabilitation programme to recover from his ankle injury that he sustained during his stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Mustafiz rocked the county circuit with his match-winning performance picking up four wickets for 23 on his debut for Sussex in the NatWest Twenty20 Blast.
The aggravated shoulder injury ruled out the pacer from the remainder of Sussex’s group phase matches in the Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest T20 Blast.
Then he went under the knife at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital in the South Kensington area of London on August 11. Veteran sports surgeon Dr Andrew Wallace conducted the half-an-hour surgery.
‘Satkhira Cyanide’ is now going through a rehabilitation programme. He needs more two months to be fit completely.
