Bangladesh beat England by 34 runs
Bangladesh bring the series back to life with a 34-run win over England in the second ODI in Mirpur on Sunday.
After a disappointing start to the game, Bangladesh recovered well, with the bat, to post 238 and then the bowlers backed the effort put in by the lower order.
Mahmudullah scored a crucial 75 and the total received a further push with Mortaza’s 44 lower down the order.
Mortaza returned to hurt England, this time with the ball as the Bangladesh skipper picked two quick wickets to rattle the visitors early in the chase.
Taskin Ahmed did the same in the middle overs as his three-wicket burst broke steady stand between Jonny Bairtstow and Jos Buttler and derailed the chase. In the end, England, after some resistance from the tail, fell short of the target by 34 runs. Series is now level at 1-1.
