Tevez hints at imminent retirement

Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez has indicated that he could finish his career at the end of 2016.

Tevez, aged only 32, has had a distinguished career, having played for Juventus, Manchester City and Manchester United before joining Boca in June 2015.

He has however expressed his frustration about how the game is run in Argentina, with the intense pressure placed on players and clubs by external factors including the media, who he blamed for a three match suspension he received earlier in the season.

‘The penalty was given to me by journalists and not the committee,’ he said to Fox Sports.

‘They pushed to give me three matches.’ The short-term nature of announcing match fixtures was another topic that troubled the striker.

‘In Europe you know what date you will play each team for the first six months.

‘Here, you find out on Monday if you play on Friday.

‘There is a possibility I could quit at the end of the year. I’m thinking about it.’
