Khoka jailed for 13 years

A Dhaka court sentenced Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka to 13 years jail for concealing Tk 9.96 crore wealth.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka Special Judge`s Court-3 delivered the verdict on Tuesday morning.

The court also fined the BNP vice-chairman Tk 10 lakh and Tk 1 lakh for amassing wealth illegally and concealing information in the wealth statement respectively. In default, he will have to serve six months in jail for the first offence while one month for the second one.

The BNP Vice-Chairman Khoka is now in the USA.

On October 30, 2014, a Dhaka court indicted the former DCC mayor in the case.
