Fakhrul gets bail in defamation case

The CMM court here on Tuesday granted bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed for his ‘derogatory’ comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party Awami League.

Metropolitan Magistrate Yunus Khan passed the order after hearing the bail petition while lawyer Sanaullah Mia asked for bail on behalf of Fakhrul.

Earlier, on September 1, 2014, SM Nur-e-Alam Siddique, vice-president of Bangladesh Awami Matshyajibi League, filed a defamation case against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on charge of making `derogatory comments` against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party Awami League with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
