MP`s shooter son Rony`s charge framing deferred till Nov 22

A Dhaka court on Wednesday deferred the hearing of charge framing against Bakhtiar Alam Rony, son of ruling Awami League lawmaker Pinu Khan, until November 22 in the New Eskaton double murder case.

Judge Shamsunnahar of the second additional metropolitan sessions judge’s court, fixed the date granting a time petition filed by the government pleader as Rony, the lone accused, was not produced before the court today.

Wednesday was a scheduled day for court proceedings.

Public prosecutor SM Zahid Hossain Sarkar said the accused could not be produced before the court from jail today due to inclement weather.

Earlier on August 13, A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court accepted the charge sheet against Bakhtiar Alam Rony in a case filed over killing two people through reckless shooting on the street in April.

Detective branch sub-inspector Dipak Kumar Das, also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet in the court, under section 302 of penal code on July 21. A total of 37 people have been made prosecution witness in the case, said the investigation officer.
