Hannan Masud injured as NCP rally comes under attack in Hatia

Abdul Hannan Masud, Senior Joint Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), along with several other activists, was injured after BNP leaders and activists allegedly attacked their roadside rally at Jahajmara Bazar in Jahajmara Union, Hatiya, Noakhali, on Monday evening.

In protest, Hannan Masud and his supporters blocked the road and staged a demonstration.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Azmal Huda of Hatiya Police Station confirmed the incident to Jago News, stating that upon receiving the information, additional police, naval forces, and coast guard personnel were deployed to maintain order at the scene.

Hannan Masud claimed, “A BNP syndicate, which extorts money in the name of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, launched a sudden attack on our rally at Jahajmara Bazar in the evening. At least 50 of our activists were injured, and several of our vehicles were vandalised.”

He further alleged, “Since August 5, a group in Hatiya, operating under the guise of BNP, has been involved in extortion. I declared that this must be stopped, and the people responded to our call. Today, those involved in the extortion attacked my roadside meeting.”

In response, Hatiya Upazila BNP General Secretary, Engineer Tanvir Ahmed Rajib, told Jago News, “NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud was leading a procession in Jahajmara Bazar, allegedly accompanied by fugitive criminals affiliated with the Awami League. BNP activists attempted to stop them, and a scuffle reportedly broke out at that time.”
