July warriors’ party to launch on Feb 28

A new political party, initiated by the organisers of July mass uprising, is slated to be launched on Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka at 3:00pm on February 28

Sarjis Alam, principal organiser of the National Citizens Committee, announced this during a press conference held at the committee’s central office in Bangla Motor on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 7:30pm.

Sarjis said, “In the new Bangladesh, shaped by the coup, the need of the hour is to establish a strong political party. Over the past seven months since the coup, we’ve faced a long struggle to realize the vision of a new Bangladesh that we dreamed of on August 5. We see it as our duty—a trust born from the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs and the blood of our brothers and sisters—to fight for this vision and deliver that Bangladesh to the next generation. We are committed to continuing this battle.”

He revealed that, with this goal in mind, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee will jointly launch the new political party on February 28, 2025, at 3:00pm on Manik Mia Avenue, adjacent to the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

“We want to take the oath of our new political party in front of the National Parliament, a symbol of the aspirations of Bangladesh’s 180 million people,” Sarjis explained. He added, “For too long, this Parliament has not reflected the people’s dreams. Instead, it has been a place where policies were crafted to protect personal, group, and party interests—a breeding ground for tyranny. Our new political party will change that by placing the student population of Bangladesh at the forefront, with the National Parliament as our witness.”

Sarjis emphasized, “In this new political party, the interests of the people of Bangladesh will take precedence over personal, group, or party agendas.”

The press conference was attended by National Citizens Committee Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Spokesperson Samantha Sharmin, Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Chief Organizer Abdul Hannan Masud, and several members of the National Citizens Committee’s central committee.
