BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s health condition is stable, according to her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

He made the statement after attending an event in London on Tuesday (February 11).

Dr Zahid said, “As you know, Begum Khaleda Zia has been receiving treatment at a clinic in London since January 8. At present, she is under the care of doctors at the home of her eldest son and acting chairman of BNP, Tarique Rahman. She is being treated under the supervision of Professor Patrick Kennedy and Dr. Jennifer Cross.”

He added, “Necessary tests are being conducted periodically, and the doctors have been visiting her at home. Her health condition is stable at the moment. Please pray for her speedy recovery.”

Dr Zahid further mentioned, “At home, her daughter-in-law, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Syeda Shamila Rahman, and her three granddaughters—Barrister Zayma Rahman, Zahia Rahman, and Zafiya Rahman—are taking care of her. As a result, she is feeling much better mentally compared to before. Her treatment is ongoing under the constant supervision of doctors.”

Regarding Khaleda Zia’s return to Bangladesh, he stated, “The day the doctors here advise her to return or when they deem it appropriate for her to travel back to Bangladesh, she will do so.”
