BNP files complaint over disappearances, killings of 2,276
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has filed a complaint regarding the enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of 2,276 of its leaders and activists, including former MP for Sylhet-2 constituency, M Elias Ali, at the International Crimes Tribunal.
A three-member delegation from the party submitted the complaint to the Chief Prosecutor of the Tribunal on Thursday (January 9).
The delegation presented a letter, signed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, outlining the allegations. The letter covers accusations of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and crossfire incidents from 2008 to August 5, 2024, across districts, upazilas, cities, and unions throughout the country. The complaint also mentions the abduction of 153 individuals, many of whom are still missing.
