Khaleda on her way to airport
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has left her Gulshan residence, Firoza, en route to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for advanced medical treatment in the UK.
Her motorcade departed shortly after 8:15 pm on Tuesday (January 7), with numerous party leaders, activists, and supporters gathered outside Firoza to bid her farewell.
Khaleda Zia is scheduled to depart from Dhaka at 10 pm on a special 'Royal Air Ambulance' sent by the Emir of Qatar.
Since the afternoon, BNP leaders and activists, along with well-wishers from various walks of life, gathered along the route, particularly in Gulshan, to bid farewell to the former prime minister. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was seen entering her residence later in the evening.
Khaleda Zia last traveled to London on July 16, 2017, for follow-up treatment for her eyes and feet. After returning to Bangladesh, she was imprisoned in early 2018 on charges related to multiple corruption cases.
