Faruk Hasan, spokesperson of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, was allegedly attacked by Chhatra Dal leaders and activists during a rally organised by the National Revolutionary Council (NRC) at Dhaka’s Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday.

Faruk claimed the attack occurred while he was delivering a speech at the citizens' rally that afternoon.

Speaking to reporters, Faruk said, "During my speech, I said that we want a revolutionary government, not an interim one. I also pointed out that those who held a meeting in the cantonment on August 5 are responsible for this."

He alleged that immediately after his remarks, Chhatra Dal members attacked him. "They assaulted me, snatched my wallet and mobile phone," Faruk added.

The incident has sparked condemnation and raised questions about the security of public gatherings and free expression.
