BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused the Awami League of exploiting political debates to divert attention from its alleged corruption, theft, and looting.

“Awami League’s corruption, theft, and looting are being overshadowed by ongoing political debates, giving them an advantage,” Fakhrul said during a press conference held at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Thursday morning.

The press conference was organised to address alleged widespread corruption in the power sector under the Awami League government. BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku presented a written statement on the matter.

Fakhrul emphasised the need to keep the public aware of the Awami League government's misdeeds. “Awami League has isolated the country and made it a pariah. If we don’t repeatedly highlight their corruption, people will forget,” he stated.

He specifically criticised the government for its actions in the power sector, calling it the most corrupt area under the Awami League’s tenure. “We must continue to expose these issues,” he added.
