Jamaat amir urges Islamic parties to stay united

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for vigilance to ensure that Islamic political parties are not exploited for others' benefit, stressing the need for unity among all factions. "We must remain united," he said.

Speaking at a rally organised by Khelafat Majlis at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday at 11:30 am, Shafiqur Rahman added, "I want to salute the students. We want to entrust the future of Bangladesh to them and support them from behind. We must remain alert to ensure no one can exploit the Islamic parties again."

The Jamaat leader alleged that during the Awami League's tenure, 26.5 lakh crore taka were laundered abroad. He accused the ruling party of dishonoring and oppressing national leaders and targeting Islamic scholars (Ulema) out of animosity.

He added, "The people of this country have been humiliated. Thousands of Ulema have been falsely imprisoned and insulted. Hafizes were brutally gunned down indiscriminately. The nation has neither forgotten nor will ever forget the Shapla Chattar incident. It has been mocked in various ways, and even the Prime Minister, sitting in such a responsible position, claimed that it was not blood but paint that was spilled there."

Shafiqur Rahman further remarked that in 2009, just two months after the Awami League came to power, their tenure began with the killing of 57 brilliant military officers. After that, they targeted Jamaat-e-Islami, killing 11 of their members. "The oppression and humiliation of Islamic scholars (Ulema) have been relentless. The Awami League has inflicted suffering and oppression on millions of people in this country, even on beggars."

Discussing the role of Islamic parties after the mass uprising, he stated, "After the uprising, Islamic parties took on the role of guardians. Our security system should be such that mosques and temples alike do not need to be guarded. Everyone should be free to practice their religion. We will continue to propagate the message of Islam."
