RSC accuses fascist sympathisers of secretariat arson

The Revolutionary Students' Council, RSC, has accused domestic and foreign "anti-August Uprising" groups, allegedly involved in rehabilitating fascism, of orchestrating the deadly fire at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

In a statement on Thursday, Convener Abdul Wahed and Member Secretary Fazlur Rahman demanded accountability from those responsible for the Secretariat's security, arguing that such a prolonged fire—burning for over 10 hours—was impossible without their complicity.

The statement alleged that since the fascist ruler Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5, unrest has repeatedly targeted the Secretariat.

They claimed that during the Ansar rebellion, revolutionary students successfully protected the Secretariat, leading to its placement under strict 24/7 security. However, following a recent announcement of a strike by administration cadres, a fire broke out late Wednesday night in Building 7.

The blaze destroyed the offices of two key cabinet members, Md Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, who the organization described as “vanguard representatives” of the August Uprising.

The council leaders called for the immediate dismissal of all security personnel responsible for the Secretariat, asserting that this would reveal who facilitated the sabotage and under whose orders the attack occurred.
