Jamaat demands fair, neutral probe into Secretariat fire

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed deep concern over the fire at the Secretariat and demanded a fair and neutral investigation into the incident.

Whether it is merely a fire incident or sabotage, it should be investigated, the party said in a statement on Thursday, December 26.

“It is essential to unearth the mystery behind the fire incident by a fair and neutral investigation and take strict legal action against those who are responsible,” the statement reads.

Alongside, the interim government should be more cautious to perform its duties, the party said.

Earlier around 1:52am, the fire broke out at Building No. 7 of the Secretariat which was brought under control after six hours’ frantic efforts by 20 units from the firefighters.
