The Revolutionary Students' Council (RSC) has called for the arrest and extradition of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina through the Indian government, alleging her involvement in the assassinations of revolutionary students in July.

The organisation also urged the formation of a special force to identify and suppress those responsible for such killings, labeling them as militant activity.

This demand was made on Sunday afternoon in a memorandum submitted to Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan.

During the handover, the DU VC urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take stronger measures to halt these killings. He also pledged to enhance student safety by installing CCTV cameras in residential halls using hall funds, despite budgetary challenges.

The memorandum was presented by the organization representatives, including Dhaka University convener Sanwara Khatun, joint convener Niaz Ahmed, and member secretary Muhib Mushfiq Khan, in the VC’s office. The organization’s central convener Abdul Wahed and joint convener Ashraf Ullah Khan were also present.

The memorandum highlighted a deteriorating security situation nationwide despite improvements at Dhaka University since the August 5 changes.

It cited the deaths of three individuals, including two private university students, and threats to others. The most recent case involves the disappearance of Khaled Hasan, co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement and a DU student.

In response to these events, the new student organization urged the Vice-Chancellor to prioritise student and public security and to convey the gravity of the situation to the government for immediate action.
