Nat’l Revolutionary Council condemns attack on leader
The National Revolutionary Council has expressed concern over the stabbing of Azizul Haque Partha, a central convening committee member of the council.
Partha was attacked early Sunday morning near the lake adjacent to Road 32 in Dhanmondi by an alleged robber.
Mohammad Hasan Arif, member secretary of the National Revolutionary Council, issued a joint statement condemning the incident and demanding a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. The council also urged law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to ensure public safety and prevent such crimes.
The statement highlighted the growing frequency of robbery-related incidents in Dhaka, which not only involve theft but also result in injuries and fatalities. Citing a report from a daily newspaper, the leaders noted, "The loss of seven lives in the capital over just four months due to robberies is deeply alarming and unacceptable. We strongly condemn and protest these incidents."
The council further called for an investigation into whether the attack on Partha, chief reporter for the online news portal RTNN, and former president of the Rajshahi University Press Club, was purely a robbery or if it involved an organized group aiming to destabilize society, threaten activists, or intimidate protesters.
“It is crucial to determine if this was merely a robbery or part of a larger, coordinated effort to incite fear and unrest,” the statement read.
