New political party in a month or two: Nasiruddin Patwari

A new political party representing students and the public, who spearheaded the July-August uprising, is set to be announced within the next one or two months, according to Nasiruddin Patwari, Convener of the Jatiya Nagarik Committee.

Speaking to journalists after placing a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar on Victory Day (Monday, December 16), Patwari said, “The anti-discrimination student movement and the Jatiya Nagarik Committee will present a new, promising political party that reflects the aspirations of the youth and the general public within the next one or two months.”

Patwari described this Victory Day as both a time of joy and reflection. “On one hand, we celebrate our freedom from Indian aggression. On the other, it’s a reminder of the ongoing struggle against the Mujibist-fascist forces still present in Bangladesh,” he said.

He further cautioned against what he described as Delhi's aggressive stance in maintaining Mujibism, adding, “Hasina is complicit in these conspiracies. The youth must remain vigilant and united in this fight for justice and democracy.”

Nasiruddin Patwari was joined by Akhtar Hossain, Member Secretary of the Jatiya Nagarik Committee, along with other leaders and activists of the organization, as they paid tribute at the National Memorial.
